Your Body
There are a host of things that have to do with your body...
few of which we ever think about, at least not until it's too late and we've done something that we regret or are confused by. Many folks go to church or to a campus ministry but over the years hear little about how we should think about our bodies, how to honor God with them, and what to do with ourselves when we've misused them (sometimes falling into the realm of sin...against ourselves, others, and God). This page is new on the RUF site, and we're beginning with a link to Setting Captives Free
, a website devoted to online "courses", individual online Bible Studies for those who struggle with (or are addicted to) things like pornography, anorexia/bulemia, alcohol/drug abuse, cigarette smoking, etc. I (Ross) have perused the site and found it to be centered on the Scriptures and the life-giving power of the gospel. Setting Captives Free may not be for everyone, but for any who have struggled with any of the above-mentioned issues would be foolish not to at least look into it, enroll, and go through one week's worth of studies. To be frank, doing something is better than doing nothing and returning, in your bondage, as a dog to his vomit. We will add more things to this page from time-to-time, including articles, websites, and chapters from valuable books. There will be a recommended reading list as well. We want to have resources available to you so that you can know what God desires for your body (how you use it, what you put into it, etc) and how to combat temptation and sin when it comes knocking.
Lastly, if you ever want to talk to someone about any of the above mentioned issues, please email me (rdixon@ruf.org) or call/text me (573-529-3142) so that we can talk about your struggles. Struggling with the above issues is a very lonely road to go alone. If you do not talk to me, please talk to a trusted friend who will listen well and pray with and for you.
Grace and peace,
Ross
